GEORGE the Third, ye, Know ye that for divers good causes and considerations, but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of thirty-one pounds ten shillings of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Revenue General of our Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia, We have given, granted and confirmed and by these presents (or us our heirs and our successors),
Do give grant and confirm unto Nicholas Davies one certain tract or parcel of land containing thirty-one thousand three hundred and three acres lying and being in the counties of Amherst and Bedford on both sides of the Fluvana including the greatest part of Fleming's Mountain, part of No Business Mountain and part of the main ridge and bounded as follows, to wit
Beginning at the Reverend William Stith's corner hickory on the South side of the said River
thence with his lines North sixty Degrees West fifty-four poles to his corner red Oak
South thirty-three degrees West thirty-six Poles to Pointers
South fifty-five degrees West eighty-eight poles to Pointers
South four Degrees West three hundred and thirty Poles to a White Oak
thence off South forty-five degrees West three hundred and seventy-seven Poles to a Spanish Oak
North sixty Degrees West twenty-eight Poles to a small white Oak
South eighty degrees ...
... to Robert Davis's Corner Black Walnut
Thence with his Lines North thirty Degrees East One hundred and eighteen Poles to a white oak
North sixty-three Degrees West one hundred and forty four Poles to four Chestnuts
South thirty Degrees West one hundred and thirty poles to a hickory on the said River
and thence across and down the same and meanders to the Beginning,
Wherein is contained eleven Islands, viz., one near the mouth of John's Creek, three near the mouth of Salt Creek, one near the mouth of Vineyard Creek, one opposite the mouth of Lawrence's Creek, one opposite the mouth of Hunting Creek called Rawley's Island, one between the mouths of Rawley's Creek and Battery Creek, one called Piney Island, one near the mouth of Cole Camp Creek, and one opposite the mouth of Wide-Mouth Creek.
Twenty-five thousand acres, part of the aforesaid Thirty-one thousand three hundred acres being formerly granted to the said Nicholas Davies by Letter's Patent bearing date the thirtieth day of June, One thousand Seven hundred Sixty and Six thousand three hundred three acres, the residue never before granted. With all ye, To have hold ye, To be held ye, Yielding and Paying ye Provided ye.
