Edgar was born in Campbell Co, Virginia 16 September 1851. He was an attorney, the son of John Cobbs Murrell (1820-1879) of Campbell Co and Cornelia F. Smithsen. Edgar died after 1874. She applied for a marriage license to wed Edgar Amalio Murrell in Lynchburg, Virginia, 11 December 1871.
Second, she married McFadden Alexander Newell in Bedford City, Bedford Co, Virginia, 4 March 1885. Alex was born in Belfast, Ireland 7 September 1824. He first married Susannah Rippard in Liverpool, England, 1846. She was born November 1828 in Belfast, Ireland and died in 1883 in Baltimore. He had 5 children by this first marriage. He was age 56, head of his family, in the 1880 Census, living at 210 Lafayette Ave. in Baltimore, Maryland. He was Superintendent of Schools in Baltimore, and he became the President of the National Education Association and founded the Maryland Normal School. He died 14 August 1893 in Havre de Grace, Harford Co, Maryland, at 68 years of age.

Charles was born at "Cloverfields" in Albemarle Co, VA 27 March 1831. Charles was the son of Dr. Francis Thornton Meriwether, Jr and Margaret Douglas Meriwether. Charles died 23 October 1887 at "Sholto" in Boonsboro, Bedford Co, VA, at 56 years of age. Charles served in the Confedrate States Army, 1861/5. Charles was listed as the head of a family, age 49, in the 1880 Census in Forest, Bedford Co, VA. Ellen was listed as a household member, age14, living with her father in the 1850 Census in Boonsboro, Bedford Co, VA. Ellen was listed as Charles James Meriwether's wife, age 44, in the 1880 Census in Forest, Bedford Co, VA. Ellen was listed as a mother-in-law, age 64 in the housheold of William Harris Rucker, her son-in-law in the 1900 Census in Forest, Bedford Co, VA.

[77] vii. Mary Walker Meriwether was born in Boonsboro, Bedford Co, VA 6 April 1872. Mary died 24 January 1894 in childbirth, in Boonsboro, Bedford Co, VA, at 21 years of age. She married Eldon Gregory Dawson 22 March 1893. Eldon was born in VA May 1855. He married, first, Margaret Douglas Meriwether in Boonsboro, Bedford Co, VA, 20 January 1880. Eldon died 15 May 1905 at 50 years of age. Eldon was listed as the head of a family, age 45, in the 1900 Census in Forest, Bedford Co, VA. Mary was listed as a daughter, age 8, in the household of her father, Charles James Meriwether, in the 1880 Census in Forest, Bedford Co, VA.

Henry served as Surgeon in the Confederate States Army in Charlotte Co, VA, 1861/5.
