Eddi was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, attended Baltimore City Schools, and graduated from Eastern High School (across the street from Memorial Stadium).

She won a full scholarship to Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, where she majored in Elementary Education, with a minor in Biology.

Eddi began her teaching career in Anne Arundel County Schools, but transferred to Baltimore County after she married Brooke Davies. She taught first or second grade in public schoools for a total of five years. Eddi and Brooke became involved in youth ministry with their church, Central Presbyterian in Towson, and later with Youth for Christ.

They have remained active at Central Pres, where Eddi has served as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the choir. Brooke and Eddi also directed the Summer Day Camp at the church for six years.

They spent one year in Tallahassee, Florida, where Eddi served as chairman of the Leon County School Volunteers, an inter-racial group of concerned citizens that helped the community adjust to a court-ordered busing plan to integrate the public schools. She also served as a tutor in the Laubach adult literacy program.

They worked for three summers at the Silver Bay Association, a YMCA conference center on Lake George (in upstate N.Y.). Eddi had also worked there one summer during college.

After Landon and Mary Margaret were born, Eddi became a full-time Mom, except for occasional substitude teaching, until Mary was in high school.

Eddi then returned to work as a teacher, first at the day care center at St. Paul's School, and later at St. Joseph's in Cockeysville, where she taught kindergarten.

Eddi also returned to college to earn a Master's degree in Reading Education at Towson University, and she then became a Reading Specialist in the Baltimore County Public Schools.

In 2004, Eddi and Brooke retired to Charleston, SC, and became proud grandparents.

Eddi had been a brain tumor survivor since December, 2008, but she died on August 4, 2011.
