     He is likely the Walker "J." Meriwether listed as age 30/40 in 1830
Bedford Co, Virginia U.S. Census. In 1819 he and brother Fontaine
travelled to Pike Co, Missouri, patented a large claim on the
Mississippi for their aunt Elizabeth, lived there a year and returned
to Virginia.
