     Note:   The date of this bond probably was occasioned by his 21st birthday at
that time, to forstall his own administration of the property he owned
and suggesting his unsound mental state may have developed long
before.

Death Note:    He is said to have died single and to have received distribution from
his father's estate.

Individual Note:
     He inherited 369 acres of land on Pedlar Creek, Amherst Co
([IT:Amherst Will Book:IT], Book 7, p.94), from his father's estate,
in 1827. On 17 October 1836, his brothers and brothers-in-law posted
a lunatic bond ([IT:Amherst Will Books:IT], Book 9, p.246), his
property to be administered by Beverly Davies. Although Amherst Co
records shed no further light on Nicholas, it is highly probable that
had children.
According to his descendants aNicholas Davies, wife unknown, had
children including a Henry Landon Davies, who was born in Amherst Co,
Virginia 12 July 1846, married Adeline Shaeffer (1868-1906), lived in
Philadelphia and had 5 well documented children who left descendants
(information from descendant Rose Rentzel). It seems highly likely
that these two Nicholas Davies are the same

Individual Note:
     R. Early ([IT:Notebooks:IT], p.30) gives him the title of Doctor and
says he married. A John Davies (25 Dec 1831--8 Jan 1910] is buried in
New Cambria Cemetery, Macon Co, MO with wife Rebecca (16 feb 1837-17
Mar 1910), ?son Joseph(4 Jan 1872-30 Sep 1874), ?father Thomas
(1795-1872).
