Richard Hargrove Higginbotham (1923-2000) WV/FL/TX/GA
Hawkinsville, Ga.—Richard Hargrove Higginbotham, 76, of Houston, died
Tuesday, January 4, 2000, in Memorial City
Hospital, Houston, Texas.
He was born in Rupert, Greenbrier County, W. Va., was a 1943 graduate
of South Charleston (W. Va.) High School and an
Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He received a degree from the
University of West Virginia in mechanical engineering,
was an engineer for Dupont, a registered land surveyor and registered
civil engineer in Florida and Texas, retired from
Higginbotham and Son, Inc., was a charter member of the Florida
Society of Land Surveyors, and honorary lifetime member of
Junior Chamber of Commerce and Soap Box Derby Director from 1965 to
1969 in Lakeland, Fla. He was a two year resident
of Hawkinsville.
Surviving: daughters, Julia Evans of Hawkinsville, Janet Reynolds of
Leesburg, Va., Rachel Baxter of Elba, Ala.; sons, Richard
H. Higginbotham, Jr. and Shawn A. Higginbotham of Houston; sister,
Margaret Lloyd of Martinsville, Va.; brother, Henry
Higginbotham, Lakeland, Fla.; 14 grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in June in Spencer, W. Va. Family
Funeral Care, Houston, was in charge of arrangements.
