     Note:   Nicholas was a planter and major landowner. He inherited part of his

Amherst Co, some 60,000 acres of land in the two counties, in about
1810.

Death Note:    The Bedford Death Record shows his age as 88, as supplied by his son
James, although he should have been 85 if the above birth date is
truly correct.
