Birth Note:    He was the son of Col. Joab Early and Ruth Hairston, and he was the
brother of General Jubal Early. He attended William and Mary College
in Williamsburg and law school in Fredericksburg. He was Postmaster
in Cooper's, Franklin Co. He farmed also in Bedford Co and in Texas.
He practiced law for a while but largely manafactured salt.
