The Davies Family Tree

Dr. James David Boyle has been compiling a database of the descendants of Nicholas Davies of Pebbleton for many years. His GEDCOM file has been used as input into GedHTree, a program that generates a set of web pages: The Davies Family Tree.

This database was also used to produce Dr. Boyle's book , The Davies Family of Virginia, which is now online in the BYU Family History Archives. Click on the underlined title above to open this PDF document in a new window, and use the menu on the left to search or navigate.

The book includes more detail than the tree, but the database and tree have been updated with more than 1000 additions and corrections since the book went to press.

These web pages are of six types: INDEX pages, FAMILY GROUP pages, TREE pages, NOTES, SOURCES, and TIME/DENSITY MAPS.

The INDEX pages allow you to find individual names.

Clicking on any name will take you to that person's FAMILY GROUP (i.e., the individual, his/her wife/husband, his/her parents, and children (if any).

Clicking on the tree icon next to a name will take you to a TREE page showing 3 or 4 generations.

From a TREE page, you may click on any name to see his/her FAMILY GROUP.

Clicking on an arrow symbol (on a FAMILY GROUP or TREE page) will move you to the next generation or the previous generation.

Clicking on the (N) or (S) icon next to a name will take you to the NOTES or SOURCES.

Note: For each SOURCE, the date on the last line is the last time that the entry
in the database was modified, not the date when the source material originated.

In the example above, the book was printed in 1996.
The SOURCE was entered into the database in 1999.

The TREE pages show more generations, but less detail, than the FAMILY GROUP pages. The TREE pages do not show suffixes (e.g., Jr, II, III), other spouses, marriage data, notes or sources.

If a Davies descendant was married more than once, you may click on the other spouse to switch to the other FAMILY GROUP.

Each TREE page shows the children from only one marriage. The TREE page showing children from another marriage can be seen only by switching to the other FAMILY GROUP, and then returning to the TREE.

The TIME/DENSITY MAP sequence shows the spread of Davies descendants during the last 200 years. The link to the maps is on the main index page.

Every GedHTree page contains a link to the main index page.
